Linen and towels are provided, whilst cleaning and cooking staff and laundry services are available for low cost. General Activities:
Remember this home is in a remote area of the Philippines but the facilities are clean and comfortable. Some of our guests have spent their time reading, walking the beach, bar hopping, using our small boats to explore the nearby reefs and islands, walking through the village, buying produce such as seafood and vegetables from the local vendors, walking to the waterfalls, riding the motorbike or bicycles, swimming, snorkelling, and the list goes on. The rooms are quite airy and usually cool as we are beside the sea. Bring you favourite CDs or MP3 players to play through our sound system. There's nothing like cold drinks, good music and beautiful weather to enhance your holiday. We have Information and Frequently Asked Questions sheets available for email, once you are interested in making a booking. Please ask for this and we'll send it shortly after the request is received.

How to get there
Flights from Manila to Puerto Princessa:
Palawan is a one hour domestic flight from Manila airport. We find Cebu Pacific to have the most competetive prices currently. Our assistant in Puerto Princessa can assist guests to arrange for the payment of domestic tickets, as most airlines won't accept telephone credit card payments. See details on our information sheet.
The trip to Port Barton from Puerto Princessa is picturescue as it follows the east coast of Palawan and then weaves through the small villages that dot the countryside. You'll see a wide cross section of Filipino culture and life along this road. It's a 3 hour trip along the highway to Port Barton and Villa Marguerita. The road is good now, unlike the old days, with little traffic and the trip goes quickly. The last few kilometres coming into Port Barton is gravel.
From Puerto Princessa to Port Barton: We can meet you at the airport and organise transport to our home or you can make your own way if you like.
The daily jeepney from Puerto Princessa to Port Barton leaves around 830 AM every day and costs only Php 300 per person whilst a good quality 4x4 airconditioned Shuttle Van can be organised for a direct trip from the airport to Port Barton for around Php 4000. We have an old Nissan 4X4 Pathfinder 5 seater utility without aircon available for groups of 3 or 4 for Php 4000. The Port Barton road has been repaired and is in very good condition now, not like the old days!
Monkeys, squirrels, snakes and other native animals can be seen along the last 24 km before Port Barton.
Native Style Home with a relaxed resort atmosphere. The 3 bedroom villa with 2 bathrooms is a native style timber construction with fantastic water and island views.
Your vacation at Gilligans Hideaway can be as relaxing or as busy as you like and enjoy the solitude and starlit skies of Palawan.

A great honeymoon destination in Palawan, Philippi
"My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and the highlight was the huge 2-level guesthouse made from all natural materials with a thatched roof and split bamboo floors. It really has that feel of the tropics. On the beach is a separate Bar and Restaurant with fantastic views through the palm trees to the ocean. It is a very idyllic location right on the waters edge. We were able to totally relax after our travels, and enjoy Port Bartons friendly atmosphere. This was the perfect starting point before we headed over to Gilligans Guesthouse, which was a short 20 minute boatride away. Mal and Michelle's staff were excellent in catering for our needs with great local meals of prawns, fish and crabs... every day! We could have stayed there forever! But we were here for the peace and quiet so our hosts directed us to Gilligans Resort, for some serious relaxation. My wife an I stayed at Gilligans for 1 week and found it to be a real "getaway from it all" experience. The accommodation was very clean, a bit rustic and situated right on a private beach. The caretakers provided our meals, and boat rides to other islands for very few pesos. We had the whole resort to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and the peace and quiet of this beautiful part of the world. Our hosts Mal and Michelle were excellent! It was the best hospitality that we experienced on our trip. It is well worth the visit, for anyone who appreciates privacy and tropical beaches. Even though we were not honeymooners, I think it would be perfect for newlyweds! Ron and Jenny
