Traditionally built on 4 floors around an open courtyard, the 4 guest bedrooms each have hand carved four poster beds. There are sitting areas and terraces on each floor to provide privacy to everyone. The penthouse roof top terrace commands 360* island views and provides additional lounging areas. The house is adorned with African antiques and artworks and beautiful stone niches and wall carvings. Fully equipped- Solar hot water, back up generator, satellite TV and plunge pool. Services- house manager, cook, house boy and visiting European qualified masseuse. Set in an archipelago of coral fringed islands, Lamu Town was a trading centre for spices and ivory for 100 years. This tradition has contributed to the Swahili culture, a mix of African, Arabian and Indian influence. There are no cars on the island and transport is by dhow (traditional African sailing boat), donkey or foot. Palm Beach House is a magestic Swahili mansion built around a central courtyard and plunge pool in the heart of the Old Lamu Town. The House offers a Penthouse rooftop suite with 360 degree views over the island and 3 other double ensuite bedrooms furnished with hand carved 4-poster beds, so a total of 4 double bedrooms. Other areas include a large sitting room on the first floor, an open terrace on the second floor. The dining room and open sitting room overlooking the plunge pool are on the ground floor.
