John is one of Australia's foremost environmental artists, and his dynamic sculptures and beautiful 'assemblages', all made entirely from found materials painstakingly gathered from Australia's beaches, have won numerous awards and exhibited nationally and internationally. Rago runs an idyllic day spa, also decorated with John's artworks in shades of white and purple. The house and day spa are both surrounded by lush jungle garden, where lizards swish through the undergrowth and brightly-coloured lorikeets whir from tree to tree. I opted for a relaxing Swedish massage followed by a facial, both of which used 100 percent natural and organic products grown in Byron. Have you ever walked along one of Australia's beaches and been appalled by the washed-up detritus of brightly coloured plastic that mars the beauty of the coastline? Artist John Dahlsen was too, until the day he thought of picking up some of these curiously twisted plastic forms and taking them home to his studio. Used disposable lighters, bottle tops, plastic bags, combs, syringes, sytrofoam; all of this and more he collected into plastic bags and colour-coded, until the colours and forms of this so-called litter took on a strange beauty and meaning of their own. - Ballina/Byron Bay Gateway Airport in Ballina is served by Virgin Blue, Regional Express and Jetstar. Various shuttle buses will get you to Byron Bay in around 35 minutes
- Brisbane International and Domestic Airport at Eagle Farm on the eastern side of Brisbane, is served by all domestic and most international carriers. A light rail and buses run directly to Brisbane Roma Street transit terminal, which has a choice of buses to Byron Bay. There are also direct shuttles to Byron Bay, which take around two hours.

Holiday Letting Bond: Cape Heritage requires a holiday letting security bond of $, payable 2 weeks prior to arrival, by cheque or direct deposit into the Cape Heritage bank account. This sum is then repaid by direct deposit into your bank account or by cheque within 5 working days of departure, following an inspection, provided the property is left in the same condition as at the start of the occupancy. Cancellations: All refunded deposits are subject to an administration fee of 12% of the deposit paid (minimum $). Christmas, New Year and Easter School Holiday Periods: Your deposit is refundable (subject to the above-stated cancellation fee) only if: a) 4 months’ notice is given of cancellation or part-cancellation and b) The accommodation is re-booked by Cape Heritage for the same period and value of the booking. All other times: Your deposit is refundable (subject to the above-stated cancellation fee) only if: a) One month’s notice is given of cancellation or part cancellation and b) The accommodation is re-booked by Cape Heritage for the same period and value of the booking.

Check in and check out conditions: - Check-in time is 2pm. - Check-out time must be 10 am, to allow for cleaning. - A $ per hour penalty fee may be charged for late checkouts. - Make sure all garbage is in the outside bin provided and the property is left in the condition in which you found it. - You are responsible for the removal of any extra rubbish over and above the norm. Please be considerate. Extra charges may apply for removal of excess rubbish. Cleaning: If Cape Heritage requires substantial extra cleaning, there may be an additional fee. The BBQ is provided for you’re enjoyment, please leave it clean or you may be charged $50 extra for cleaning. You are responsible for any damage to the property and its contents. Please assist by leaving the premises clean and tidy. You will have noticed in our advertising that one of the best things about our property is its quiet environment. You are privileged to be able to enjoy a peaceful holiday in a residential area.
