This is the perfect destination for singles, couples and families seeking a relaxed and carefree vacation. If that is not reason enough to visit, consider that Playa Guiones, a breathtaking, pristine stretch of white sand beach, is an easy stroll along a gorgeous tree-shaded lane. As you walk to the beach you may be accompanied by howler monkeys high in the trees that delight in announcing their presence as they travel above you. Your destination, Playa Guiones, is one of the premiere surfing beaches in all of Costa Rica.
Four houses, each private and unique, comprise Campo Alegre's two acres. Three of the houses are available for rent. The fourth is occupied by your host, Linda Cox, an American ex-pat who lives year round in Nosara. Linda is an avid bird watcher and horsewoman, and is your source for detailed information about the area. Ask Linda anything and she will have an answer!
All three houses are air conditioned and feature Costa Rican hardwoods with elegant hand carved details. Each house may be rented individually or together for a family or group gathering up to 13. Campo Alegre is a magical place for a family who wish to vacation together yet maintain individual privacy. Ask about group rates for all three houses! Minimum rental is 3 nights. Long term rental will be considered, please ask! During your stay you have access to the beautiful lap pool and tennis court.
Great restaurants are plentiful in Nosara... many within walking distance of Campo Alegre.
There is a super market nearby in the pueblo of Esperanza. As well as several mini-super markets within walking distance.
Interested in bill fish or tuna? No need to go far. There is great deep sea fishing out of nearby Garza Bay. We can help arrange half or full day trips. Or talk to Marlin Bill, he’s a great source!
Playa Guiones is one of the premiere surfing beaches in Costa Rica. There is great surf in the entire area. Rent a surfboard, boogie board or snorkeling equipment from one of the local surf shops.
The world famous Nosara Yoga Insittute is a 5 minute walk.
The longest zipline/canopy tour in Costa Rica is nearby.
There's plenty more to do or just relax by the pool!!

I would not recommend staying at El Campo. My boyfriend and I booked a week at El Establo . To be honest, the apartment is lovely inside: wooden detail, fully equipped, large bed, etc. However, it is quite literally on top of the stable, in case that wasn't clear from the website. This would not have been a problem - and would even have been fun - but for a couple of facts. At least one of the horses spent the entire night kicking the side of the stable, creating incredibly loud bangs that shook the whole apartment (including the bed). The workers arrive every morning at 6.30 am to feed them and when there they stayed for over an hour. They made no effort to keep their voices down or be considerate of guests sleeping above. Finally, there was some serious construction going on across the street while we were there, which starts early and is quite loud. In addition, we also learned that Linda's house is right up against the swimming pool and she is often sitting out there, thereby precluding any night dips, and the lights on the tennis court don't work. Also, the beach is definitely more than a five minute walk.
So, on account of all this, we stayed there for one night and, after one of the worst nights of sleep in history, promptly checked into a hotel the following morning. We then kindly explained to Linda that the situation was not ideal for sleeping and we were going to leave. We had wired Linda half the money ($275) in advance, and given her the second half in cash upon arrival. I asked her if she would consider returning to us the $275 in cash we had just given her, considering that we had stayed for less than 24 hours and given the sleeping circumstances. In the end she agreed to return to us $160. However, she was extremely unprofessional, yelled that we should have known because it's a "working barn," and eventually called me a "f*cking b*tch."
So, although the hotel we ultimately went to was great, we spent $390 for one night in a place where it's quite impossible to get a good night's sleep. Although I can't speak for the other properties at El Campo and I'm sure they're quite nice inside, I would not recommend staying here. Linda's attitude was incredibly unprofessional and unreasonable, and frankly the description she has of El Establo on the internet sites amounts to false advertising. There are a ton of other great rentals in Nosara that are much closer to the beach and where you can save yourself the headache.
